It would appear that our gracious host means for us to get better acquainted. I am, as the announcement stated, Reaver, and I'll be guiding you for the remainder of your little "journey" while here.

So tell me: what have your explorations of the Barge taught you thus far?

...I'm aware some of you have gone and returned without memory of this place, but have recovered as well. I won't trouble you long, but I wondered if you might describe to me how your memories returned. How long did it take? Did anything at all trigger it?

I experienced amnesia when I last returned to the Barge. It persisted for about two weeks.

As regards getting my memories back, it was essentially good luck. When I came on board the first time, the first major event I experienced was the takeover of the ship by Jim Kirk and his associates. His second takeover triggered memories of the first, and my memories started to return over the next several days.

Interesting... I might be able to work with that.

I know you're not asking for advice, as such, but if I could offer some anyway: I'm sure you mean well, but don't try to force it. It's a traumatic experience at the best of times, getting back years of your life you never knew you'd lived.

It was like a concussive jolt of data to the brain. Only trigger was seeing the barge again.

So you lost little time, if that is the case.

So far I've learned there aren't a lot of rules. Locked doors, but that doesn't seem to stop people from getting what they want.

There typically aren't until you are assigned a Warden with a backbone, I've found.

Your first and ongoing tasks will be to secure a job on this ship and to stay out of trouble. I advise against attempting to harm other Inmates, or Wardens, for that matter, though that shouldn't be a problem for you. Such a disciplined individual, according to this profile.

I can be if the occasion calls for it. And I don't have any plans to harm anyone, unless they need to be hurt, so tell me what you consider 'trouble'.

Essentially anything that would lead others to ask that I take certain actions to correct you. As for those that "need" hurting -- well, you no longer get to decide who that will be.

[Ah, a point where there might need to be a good old alpha throwdown after all.] Is there a reason I should trust your judgment about who is deserving?

Don't be ridiculous; there is almost no reason at all. You don't even know me, and you would be a fool to simply trust me right out of the gate. The only thing you should trust is that I have no intention to find myself demoted, so I will not go out of my way to commit any great evils against your person.

Two things you should know, however: One, if you act out of any reason beyond self-defense I will see to it that there are consequences, because that is how things are run here. Two, if you die, then I am the only thing that can bring you back.

[Lark hadn't known that last part at all. And he's sure Reaver knows exactly how strong a motivator that is, and rather than becoming annoyed over it he finds he sort of respects that sort of blatant pressure.]

I was a lawyer at home. Not much for wanton violence. [Which isn't really true, not in the wolf world, but Reaver isn't part of that and neither is Lark, here.]

If you live up to expectations, I see no reason for me to disappoint you.
